Our Policies

We do not promise to keep all of the animals relinquished to us forever. However, we will keep all animals long enough to find them the perfect home! We will also keep some animals as permanent residents of LCR.  We do charge adoption fees so we can continue to care for and take in other animals in need of rescuing BUT our fees are usually cheaper than most. We believe in the fact that money should be more spent on taking care of the animals than paying to adopt them. We do require new adopters to fill out an adoption application and sign an adoption contract upon adoption. We cannot adopt out to persons under the age of 18 BUT if you are under 18 and want to adopt a pet, please ask your parents or guardian to adopt the animal for you. Adoption fees are non refundable. Usually, once adoption fees are taken, we usually go straight to the pet or feed store and get more supplies for the animals we are still caring for. We do not make a profit off the animals. I just charge enough to make my money back from all the money I have spent caring for the animals. Even then it sometimes does not cover it. I do not do this rescue to make a profit. I would not be able to run it right if that were the case. If you ask any rescue, they will tell you that they usually spend way more money than they take in. This is the case with us.

PAYING FOR ANIMALS
We will NOT pay you for your animals. We need our money to care for the animals the we have and for the animal you are trying to relinquish to us.. If you have the time to wait for people to pay you for your animals then you should be keeping them or you at least have the time to find them the appropriate home.

SICK ANIMALS
We currently cannot take in sick animals due to a few reasons. However, if an animal becomes ill we are capable of getting it the proper veterinary care it needs. We just would rather not take in an animal knowing we may have to use most of our funds on it and not be able to take in other animals in need. Also, we do have animals of our own as well as other rescued animals and do not want to take the chance of any diseases being spread to them. There are many veterinary offices that can take in sick animals from you and be able to treat them properly and usually find them great homes as well. There are also bigger rescues that do take in sick animals and we would be more than happy to provide you with their contact info so that they can take care of your poor sick baby.

AGGRESSIVE ANIMALS
We may take is aggressive animals only if they pass evaluation. If we believe we can turn the animal around and eliminate or at least improve its aggression then we will take it in but if we do not believe we can, we cannot take it in. We do however know some rescues that will take them in and would be more than happy to send you their way.

ADOPTING UNDER A BREEDING CONTRACT
I will adopt to breeders under certain circumstances. We cannot be hypocritical because we have bred different animals in the past(NEVER MICE OR RATS I HAVE RESCUED and we are responsible about it and do not over breed. we just breed to help try and eliminate health, temperament and "type" issues.) and know that in some cases, breeders make the best of owners, therefore we cannot morally turn them down. HOWEVER, the only way we will adopt out the animal under a breeding contract is if it is a good candidate for breeding. We will not let sick, deformed, elderly or bad tempered animals be adopted out on a breeding contract. We also usually do not let anyone other than experienced breeders adopt our animals on a breeding contract for multiple reasons that we do not feel the need to go into detail about. If you would like to discuss this issue, please contact us and we will be more than happy to go into detail for you. Ultimately we would rather all animals be in pet homes since breeding can be harmful to any animal and we believe animals should be adopted form rescues and shelters before anyone produces more.

HOME INSPECTIONS
I do not require a home inspection upon adoption. I do however require pictures of the animals new home/cage as well as the possibility of Little Critters Rescue doing "check ups" on the animals that get adopted form us. These check ups require you to meet us somewhere with the animal so we can inspect the condition of the animal.  We also require you send new pictures of the animals every couple months to see they are still alive and well. We will keep record of the animals pictures to see that they are not duplicates and to ensure it is the same animal. We just want the best for all animals.

If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to contact me and discuss them with me.
